Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. This was a very natural quality for a woman of Irish heritage, who was nurtured in her early years by talented relatives and parents. Maureen was born in Ranelagh which was a suburb in Dublin the capital of Ireland, on 17 August 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons was a gifted contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin business, and had shares in the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons is the 2nd FitzSimons children. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara made up this family. Maureen was an athletic natural and was a fan of tough sporting games. She combined this interest with an equally natural aptitude to perform. In the end, she received almost all of the Feis Awards for dramatic and acting within her own country. In the age of 14, she had been admitted into the Abbey Theater, where her goal was to study operatic singing and classical theater.
